Walk in solidarity with the peoples of Darfur and give support to survivors of ethnic cleansing and mass atrocities NEW DATE: SATURDAY 11TH OCTOBER, RICHMOND PARK, LONDON |
||
Since 2003 a widespread campaign of violence and mass atrocities has been waged against the Black African peoples of Darfur by Arab militias, backed by the Sudanese government. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people have been murdered and millions more permanently displaced from their homes.
|
Last April, survivors of genocide from the Holocaust to Darfur joined members of the public in a 70km walk from Cambridge to London to raise awareness of the plight of Darfurian refugees in the UK.
This year, follow in their footsteps and join students, teachers and Darfurian refugees to Walk4Darfur around Richmond Park on Saturday 11th Octorber. Place: Richmond Gate Time: 09.45 Route: Tamsin Trail (7.5 miles, approx 2.5 hrs) |
"After my village was destroyed in 2004, I had to walk for five days to find someone who could help me. I had lost my whole family. Today, I am still walking that journey. All I want is peace, and to return home." - Abdo Yahya, Darfurian survivor
