Help us to rebuild shattered lives. Help us to provide Darfuri women and girls with solar powered cookers and fuel efficient slow burning stoves that they desperately need for protection and empowerment.
Up to 400,000 have been murdered and approximately 2.5 million displaced since the conflict began.

One of the primary objectives of Fund4Darfur is to support Darfuri survivors now living in refugee camps in the region, to help rebuild lives and communities that have been shattered by the crisis. In keeping with this, we have identified a positive new way to provide support, with a project that offers both immediate relief and assistance and a means of empowerment. Money raised for Fund4Darfur will go towards the provision of fuel efficient slow burning stoves and solar powered cookers, a simple need that makes a big difference to the lives of refugees who have been left with nothing.

Women and girls in camps seeking refuge from the conflict have no choice but to leave relative safety in order to collect firewood necessary to cook for their families, but in doing so they are left hugely vulnerable to rape and sexual violence by militia. This is happening on an alarming scale as a regular method of warfare. With some camps consisting of up to 80% women, they will continue to suffer horrific violence unless we help them...

...and it doesn't take much. £15 gives a woman in Darfur a stove to feed her family, protect herself and her children, and train others to use the equipment.

How do they help?

  • The provision of slow burning stoves and solar powered cookers  reduces the need for women to leave the camps, keeping them safer within the camp boundaries.
  • The cookers also dramatically reduce deforestation and fuel consumption and are designed specifically for the developing world, requiring only basic and readily available materials such as cardboard, foil and plastic.
  • They are also light to carry and easy to use
